The Power of The Present Moment
For most, your journey began with excitement of the thought of having children together, the joy of imagining a little one running around. At first, you were relaxed. The first month passed by and you brushed it off. The second month came and went, and you started to wonder what might be wrong. Soon, every new cycle became another countdown, another set of questions, another wave of hope and disappointment.
Before you knew it, your mind became full of nothing but this journey. You may have found yourself constantly searching for answers, obsessing over every detail, every symptom, every possible sign.
If that’s you, you’re not alone.
Have you ever noticed how in life, the things we stop chasing so hard often seem to fall into place more easily? When we stop obsessing, we give space for things to unfold naturally. I know, with fertility this can feel almost impossible. How can you not care, when it’s something you want so badly?
But let’s look at what actually happens when you get stuck in that cycle of obsession.
What happens when your mind won’t let go
When your thoughts are consumed by trying to get pregnant, your body reads this as a signal: something critically important is happening. Your nervous system shifts into “fight or flight” – it thinks you’re in survival mode.
In survival mode, your body prioritises energy for thinking, planning, and problem-solving… but it reduces energy for areas like digestion and reproduction. In a way, it’s a catch-22: the more you mentally push towards getting pregnant, the more your body stops it.
This is why so many stories exist of people finally letting go, and then conceiving naturally. It isn’t magic, it’s the body finally feeling safe enough to do what it’s designed to do.
The power of the present moment
When you return to the present moment, something shifts.
- Your body calms.
- Your nervous system relaxes.
- Your mind clears.
- You begin to feel more alive and filled with positive energy.
And in that state, inspiration flows. Sometimes it might not even seem related to fertility, but it is. Maybe an urge to try yoga, or go for a run in the park, something so small, yet these small sparks can be exactly what your body needed: maybe all you needed was better circulation. Your body knows what it needs to get you where you want, you just have to let it.
By living in the present moment, you create the space for your body to thrive. You open yourself to new ideas, to fresh energy, and to possibilities you may not have seen before.
Remember
Your fertility journey is deeply important, but it doesn’t define you. When you step into the now, you reclaim your peace. You allow your body to work in harmony, instead of in overdrive. And most importantly, you give yourself the gift of living fully, not just waiting for the future, but embracing the beauty of today.
